Turn thin pages into useful, readable content

Expand pages that say too little, and make long pages easier to read, without padding them with filler.

The problem

Indexable pages have very little text, or long pages use very long sentences and walls of text.

How to spot it

The audit lists pages with their word count, average sentence length or long paragraphs.

Why it matters

Pages that say little give visitors, search engines and AI systems little to understand or quote. Very long sentences and paragraphs are hard to read, especially on phones.

What happens if you leave it

Visitors leave without the information they needed to decide, and pages struggle to rank for anything specific.

How to fix it

  1. Decide if the page should exist. Some pages (contact, login) are short by nature; that is fine. Merge or noindex pages that add nothing.
  2. For important pages, answer the visitor's real questions: what is offered, for whom, how it works, what it costs or how pricing works, why choose you, and what to do next.
  3. Add specifics only you can provide: examples, photos with captions, process steps, guarantees, service areas, credentials.
  4. For readability: keep most sentences under about 25 words and paragraphs to a few sentences. Use lists for steps and features and subheadings every few paragraphs.
  5. Do not pad pages with generic text to reach a word count. Length is not the goal; usefulness is.

Common mistakes

  • Adding AI-generated filler that repeats the same point.
  • Hiding content in images, which visitors on slow connections and machines cannot read.

How to check the fix worked

Read the page aloud on a phone. Ask: could a first-time visitor decide to contact you from this page alone? Re-run the audit.
